It is already Thursday…Yikes! As you have probably noticed, I am just a bit behind on the blogging for GJEP, but no worries it has all been worth it!
The Grand Junction Off-Road is complete and was a success!!! Cool vendors, cool riders, and really hot weather is a VERY short synopsis of the event.
Friday morning kicked off the fun for GJEP staff. We walked all around the Expo area helping vendors find their spots, tables, tents, chairs and water. The expo officially opened at noon on Friday to some really good crowds of people. After the first day, the vendors reported they were seeing good sales numbers and inquiries.
Friday night included a wonderful fat tire criterium where GJEP hosted an Investor Party at our building to watch the crazy! We are so thankful to the Hot Tomato for supplying pizza and strombolis, Colterris Wines for the wonderful wine, and Kannah Creek for the brand new bottled beer! Luckily, fun and festivities were over by 8:00 p.m. so we could get home to catch some shut eye before the next day.
Saturday was another hot one! We were once again downtown Grand Junction to catch all the festivities. We checked in with the vendors to make sure they were doing well, then plopped down at the finish line to wait for the racers to finish. WOW! I was so stunned by the number of single speed bikes that came through, and not wishing to switch places with them for anything in the world! After the first few finishers crossed the line our attention was split between the shops, the concerts, the Expo and more riders completing the course.
Sunday was just as exciting! We watched the pros line up with anticipation and zoom off. Man! They are fast! In what seemed like no time at all they were all done and taking the podiums to receive their over-sized prize checks. It was nice to hear the pros talk about the GREAT trail systems and friendly community that the Grand Valley has to offer.
Huge thank you and congratulations to all volunteers, spectators, participants, and community members! This was a wonderful event for the Grand Valley and will only grow and become more spectacular in years to come. We are looking forward to next year!
