WE DID IT!!! The GJEP staff packed our bags and loaded them on our bikes for Bike to Work Day. We completed the 13-ish miles from Fruita to Grand Junction with no crashes and plenty of good views! I have to say that it is a feeling of accomplishment to bike instead of taking the easy route of using a car. The biggest downfall is dealing with helmet hair the rest of the day….oh well.
We cruised to City Hall before going to the office in order to re-gain our strength on doughnuts, bagels, bananas and OJ. Welcome refreshments! We also put our names in the drawing for some of the sweet prizes!
I love riding my bike all over…usually within Fruita city limits. I live there, and everything is so close! Parking a bike is a lot easier than parking a car anyway! One of my favorite places to bike to is the Thursday night concerts in Fruita! They have great, varied music, and it is a relaxing, family-friendly environment! Concerts start at 7:30 p.m. every Thursday night at the Fruita Civic Center grassy lot…where the farmers markets are. You can bring a picnic, blankets or chairs and just relax.
